Washington University
First Year Center (FYC)
Senior Graphic Designer
January 2020-May 2022
The FYC supports first-year students, offering resources and organizing events to connect the community. When I joined, there was no clear branding or visual voice to the department’s marketing materials. This opportunity allowed me to work closely with the Marketing Director to build a cohesive design system that would be recognizable and apply to all materials moving forward.
As 1 of 2 designers, my role was to support all visual design requests - ranging from social media graphics, print flyers, animations, illustrations, publication design, and logo design. As I neared graduation, I took on the role of the senior designer on the team and trained two incoming designers to carry on the branding I had established.
Publication Design
One of my largest projects on the team was designing two informational publications for over 7,000 incoming students and families. While the information in each was similar, I had to think of how to differentiate the two with a unique visual style that catered to the specific audience. I was the sole designer and handled all layout, typography, illustration, and icon design.

Style Guides
To help build excitement, I focused on creating a fun and vibrant visual style, complete with playful illustrations and a bold color palette.
To help build trust and professionalism, I created a consistent and polished look. This kept the focus on the information, rather than competing with the design.
